Terminal Out 1 Zurich Airport

Zurich Airport features a sophisticated design intended to efficiently handle both domestic and international flights. The heart of the airport is a centralized complex that integrates various facilities to enhance the passenger experience.

Main Terminal Structure
The airport features a single, spacious terminal building that houses multiple concourses. These concourses, designated A, B/D and E, extend from the central area like spokes on a wheel. This layout allows for easy navigation and quick transfers between the different areas of the airport.

Central Facilities
At the core of the airport is the Airside Centre, a bustling hub that serves as a nexus for all passenger activities. This area, built in 2003, offers a wide range of services including shops, restaurants and lounge areas. Once on Airside, passengers will find gates A, B, C and D.  Adjacent to this is the landside Airport Centre, which houses check-in counters, transport links and additional retail spaces.

Passenger flow and security
All departing travellers pass through a unified security check before entering the Airside Centre. From there, passengers are directed to their respective gates based on their destination: Schengen or non-Schengen. This system ensures efficient processing while maintaining necessary border controls.

Concourse details
- Concourse A: Mainly serving Schengen destinations, including domestic flights.
- Concourse B/D: A versatile area capable of handling both Schengen and non-Schengen flights.
- Concourse E: Dedicated to non-Schengen international flights, connected to the main terminal via an underground train system.
